RSL Victoria treated its dedicated volunteers to a special day as part of National Volunteer Week.
Volunteers sat down for a thank you lunch, engaged in a workshop by Volunteering Victoria and enjoyed a private guided tour of the Australian National Veterans Arts Museum (ANVAM).
State President Dr Robert Webster OAM says the RSL’s volunteer network is a tremendous asset to the organisation.
"I say it often because it’s true. Volunteers are the lifeblood of the organisation and allow us to deliver vital programs and services to those who need it most. We are always grateful for their dedication, passion and generosity, and today we officially recognise their immense efforts and thank them for all they do."

The theme for this year’s National Volunteer Week is “Better Together” which according to Volunteering Australia, the national peak body for volunteering, celebrates the power of volunteering to bring people together, build communities and create a better society for everyone.
“Together, through volunteering, we are changing communities for the better. We are, Better Together.”
Kerry Burns is the Manager for Volunteer and Social Engagement at RSL Victoria. She says not only is volunteering of great benefit to the RSL, but also for the individual volunteers themselves.
"Volunteering at RSL Victoria is a fantastic way to become involved with and support the ex-service community. We also know it offers people an opportunity to be sociable, offers a way to use their skills and experiences, and feel rewarded from making a difference to the community."
